A series of wearable rings that encourage the wearer to heal their hand muscles by playing. All the movements are designed and inspired by medical exercises and basic body awareness therapy. The work is pushing the edge of the jewellery one more step forward from our traditional understanding of wearability. This collection of works is telling more about the intimate relationship we could have with our wearable objects. And its mental impact on our inner world.
Independent jewellery designer based in the Netherlands. Weimin Zhu graduated in 2022 from Gerrit Rietveld Academie and is currently pursuing a Master at the Design Academy Eindhoven. Zhu’s design highlights the wearability of jewellery and the playful ‘purpose’ of wearing mixed with its interactive effect on the wearer’s body, and she continues to explore how that in effect helps to achieve a balance between the body and the mind.
