Can the shortcomings of digital manufacturing be remedied by taking inspiration from traditional craft techniques?
In WEAV(3)D, We showcase our research to create a lightweight and natural, fiber-based material using our own weaving process. Through the act of braiding natural yarns in a 3D fashion, we can make a vast array of structural pieces using only natural materials.
Moritz Liedtke and Jake Lalor Zakrzewski are a recently graduated design duo from Rotterdam. Together they are inspired by materials and processes and how these can be transformed to develop interesting results. With Jake's knowledge of mechanical design and Moritz's knowledge of biomaterials, they developed a collaborative effort to take a stand against the norms of material creation.
